Summary:
It seems that the custom of the time included a ceremonious dialog between city government and performers if a production of live entertainment were being undertaken. Or maybe this article is tongue-in-cheek. Regardless, the Athenian Thespian Club is so well regarded that Jerry, the mayor of Athens, and “prominent citizens” requested a performance. The request was honored and presumably took place at a date in future.
